OTEMS BOARD VACANCY OFFERS CHANCE TO GIVE BACK

Residents of the OTEMS ambulance district have an opportunity to give back to the community while setting policy for one of the state’s premiere rural emergency medical districts.
The Oologah-Talala Emergency Medical Services district (OTEMS) board is seeking applicants for an open seat.
The vacancy was created by the resignation of Rebecca Cartwright, who had to move outside the district’s boundaries to her late mother’s home and acreage, which she inherited.
Current directors have backgrounds in emergency medicine, law enforcement and finance.
“As a resident of the OTEMS district I feel it is my responsibility to volunteer my service to support OTEMS and assure that my fellow citizens continue to get the excellent service that OTEMS provides,” said Chief Tim Albin of the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office. He is the current OTEMS board chair and has extensive law enforcement and administrative experience.
Jack Griggs grew up in the area, had a distinguished career in law enforcement and emergency services, and returned to Oologah to retire and pursue a range of community service ranging from president of the chamber of commerce to serving on the OTEMS board.
“I volunteered to serve on the OTEMS Board because I wanted to help others. I believe that this is one way in which I can give back to the community. I grew up in this area and attended schools in Talala, Inola and Tulsa. I remember many people giving of themselves. Their work, service and commitment helped me and many others.
“Helping others has been the main theme of my life, in my forty year career as a police officer and service to several charitable groups. I pray that someone will step up to volunteer as an OTEMS board member so that we can continue to provide the best service possible to the area residents. OTEMS is not only one of the outstanding emergency services in Oklahoma but one of the best in the Nation,” he said.
James Senese, the board treasurer, had a distinguished career as a top business executive before beginning a teaching career at the University of Tulsa.
“I think I get the greatest amount of satisfaction from working with OTEMS leadership and applying the business practices I’ve used (and now teach) in a different setting. Kelly and Randall, the management team, seem to seek, devour and respect the guidance that the directors offer,” he said.
Anyone interested in applying for the seat should submit a resume to Kelly Deal, Operations Director, OTEMS, PO Box 165, Oologah, OK 74053 so it arrives no later than Aug. 10 and plan to attend the OTEMS board meeting currently scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11 9, for an interview.
Board members must be residents of the OTEMS district which has the same boundaries as the Oologah-Talala School District.
